Blancpain Villeret Quantième Complet 6654-3642-MMB
The Villeret collection is Blancpain’s most historically faithful expression — round, classical, and built for complications of genuine depth. The Quantième Complet (complete calendar) is the cornerstone complication of the Villeret line, displaying the full triple calendar — day of the week, date, and month — alongside a moon phase at 6 o’clock, all in a single glance. This is not a simple date window; it is a complete annual narrative of time, presented on a single opaline dial with applied Roman numerals, feuille (leaf) hands, and a serpentine hand in blued steel that points to the date.
This example, reference 6654-3642-MMB, is presented in 18-carat red gold — Blancpain’s preferred terminology for their warm-toned gold alloy, distinct from the cooler hues of rose gold — paired with the brand’s signature Mille Mailles bracelet. It arrives brand new with factory stickers still applied, full set documentation included and is available today from Calibre24 in Perth at $71,995 AUD — a saving of $18,805 against the Australian retail price of $90,800.
A Blancpain signature. Mille Mailles translates from French as “thousand links,” referring to the extraordinarily fine mesh construction of interlocking red gold that gives the bracelet its supple, fabric-like drape on the wrist. Each link is individually crafted in 18-carat red gold, the mesh woven to create a seamless visual transition from the case to the folding clasp. The result is a bracelet that moves with the wrist rather than against it, combining the richness of solid gold with a comfort that belies its material.
Five hundred and thirty-one individual parts. Artisanal assembly by hand and fine finishes meticulously applied by craftsmen. its construction is complex, requiring studied arrangement of a mixture of eleven different interior and twenty different exterior links, which in French are termed “maillons”. The maillons are threaded together with fine pins, anchored on each side and running across the bracelet through the interior of the maillons so as to create joined rows. The links are thus invisibly held in place, but free as a connected element of a row to rotate so that the bracelet can form to the wrist.
On the secondary market, Blancpain Villeret watches with the Mille Mailles bracelet command a significant premium over equivalent examples on leather straps — and finding one brand new, with factory stickers intact, is exceptionally rare. If one observes closely not all the maillons are the same and that there are in fact 31 distinct types and sizes.
The 40mm opaline dial is organised with quiet authority:
Setting the calendar: Corrections are made via under-lug pushers concealed beneath the lugs (see attached pics showing caseback). A midnight security mechanism automatically blocks the calendar correction system in the hours approaching and following midnight, preventing accidental movement of the gears during the daily date jump cycle. Applied Roman numerals frame the chapter ring; feuille hands in polished red gold carry SuperLuminova on the hours and minutes.
The Calibre 6654.4 is Blancpain’s in-house automatic movement. It represents the technical foundation upon which the Villeret Quantième Complet’s reputation rests:

Q1: What is the Blancpain Villeret Quantième Complet? The Blancpain Villeret Quantième Complet is a complete (triple) calendar wristwatch with moon phase, produced at Blancpain’s Le Sentier manufacture in Switzerland. “Quantième Complet” means complete calendar in French — the watch simultaneously displays the day of the week, the date, and the month, alongside a moon phase at 6 o’clock. The reference 6654-3642-MMB pairs this complication with an 18-carat red gold case and Blancpain’s exclusive Mille Mailles (“thousand links”) gold mesh bracelet.
Q2: What does Mille Mailles mean on a Blancpain? Mille Mailles is French for “thousand links,” referring to Blancpain’s proprietary fine-mesh gold bracelet. Each link is individually crafted in 18-carat gold — red gold on this reference — and woven into an extraordinarily supple mesh that drapes like fabric on the wrist. The Mille Mailles bracelet is exclusive to Blancpain and is considered one of the most distinctive and desirable bracelet constructions in watchmaking. On the secondary market, Villeret watches with the Mille Mailles bracelet consistently command a premium over leather-strap versions of the same reference.
Q3: What is the difference between a Quantième Complet and a Grande Complication? A Quantième Complet (complete calendar) is a complication that displays the full calendar — day, date, and month — simultaneously, alongside a moon phase. It is not an annual calendar (which skips manual corrections for all 30-day months) or a perpetual calendar (which skips manual correction entirely); the Quantième Complet, unlike the annual and perpetual calendars, does not take account of the variations in month length and needs to be corrected five times per year, at the end of each month of less than 31 days. A Grande Complication refers to a watch combining three or more major complications (typically tourbillon, perpetual calendar, and striking mechanism), and is a higher order of complexity. The Villeret Quantième Complet is a classical complication watch — not a Grand Complication — but is widely regarded as one of the most beautifully resolved expressions of the complete calendar in production.
Q4: How do you set the calendar on a Blancpain Quantième Complet? The Blancpain Villeret Quantième Complet uses under-lug correctors concealed beneath the case lugs — one corrector per calendar function (day, date, month). This keeps the dial completely free of pushers and maintains the clean, uninterrupted appearance of the case. Setting is done by pressing the appropriate corrector. A midnight security mechanism automatically disengages the correctors during the period around midnight (approximately 10 pm to 2 am) when the calendar gearing is in motion for the daily date advance, preventing accidental damage to the movement.
Q5: What movement is in the Blancpain Villeret Quantième Complet 6654-3642-MMB? The reference 6654-3642-MMB is powered by Blancpain’s Calibre 6654.4, a fully in-house automatic movement. It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), contains 28 jewels across 321 components, and delivers approximately 72 hours of power reserve via twin barrels. Key technical highlights include a free-sprung balance with adjustable weights for superior rate stability, a silicon hairspring that is non-magnetic and requires no lubrication, and a bidirectional 22-carat gold automatic rotor. The movement is visible through the sapphire exhibition caseback.
