Richard
Mille Australia

Richard Mille builds fewer than 6,000 watches a year and sells them only through its own boutiques. Everything else moves on the secondary market — which is where we work. Calibre24 sources, authenticates and sells pre-owned RM in Australia.

Construction

Why an RM costs
what it costs

Richard Mille's pricing is a function of how the watches are made: aerospace materials, machined in tiny volumes, to tolerances that most of the industry never attempts.

Case

Tripartite architecture

The case is three separate plates — bezel, caseband, back — bolted together with grade 5 titanium spline screws seated in 316L stainless washers. A single case takes hours of machining and dozens of individual operations.

Material

Carbon TPT and Quartz TPT

Hundreds of carbon or silica filament layers, each around 30 microns, laid at shifting angles and cured under heat and pressure. Milling cuts through the stack, so the striated pattern on every case is unrepeatable.

Movement

Skeletonised baseplates

Baseplates and bridges are cut from grade 5 titanium rather than brass, then hollowed until only the load paths remain. Each one is finite-element tested before it is approved for production.

Shock

Built to survive impact

RM's tourbillons have been worn through professional tennis and Formula 1. Movements are suspended on cables or splined mounts specifically so the watch tolerates forces that would stop a conventional calibre.

Control

Function selector and torque limiter

A pusher in the crown steps between winding, neutral and hand-setting, with the selected mode displayed on the dial. Torque-limiting crowns stop the mainspring being over-wound by force.

Volume

Deliberate scarcity

Annual output sits in the low thousands across the entire catalogue, and distribution runs only through Richard Mille's own boutiques. Demand routinely exceeds allocation, which is what sustains secondary-market pricing.

Guidance

Buying pre-owned Richard Mille in Australia

Authorised RM dealer network in Australia

Richard Mille sells exclusively through its own boutiques, and Richard Mille has officially opened its first retail location in Australia recently. For Australian buyers that leaves two routes: a waiting list at the only botique localy or an overseas boutique, usually with a purchase history behind it, or the secondary market. Calibre24 is an independent dealer, not an authorised Richard Mille retailer, and we are not affiliated with the manufacture.

What to verify before you buy

Counterfeit RM is unusually sophisticated, and the money involved rewards the effort. Ask for the case back serial, confirm it matches the papers, and check the spline screws are correctly seated and unmarked — replaced or damaged screws are a common tell of a case that has been opened badly. The movement should be inspected by someone who has handled the calibre before, not simply photographed.

Servicing and parts in Australia

Richard Mille servicing is handled by the manufacture rather than independent workshops, and intervals typically run three to five years depending on the calibre. Factor turnaround time and freight into ownership costs — this is not a watch you drop into an inexperienced watchmaker.

Import duty and GST

Watches brought into Australia attract GST on the landed value, and buying from an Australian-based dealer removes that step along with the customs and freight risk. If you are exporting a watch out of Australia, GST treatment differs again — we can walk you through it before you commit.

Selling or trading your Richard Mille

We buy outright, take watches on consignment, and trade against other pieces. Valuation is based on live market data rather than a fixed discount to retail, and we will tell you when holding is the better decision.

Common questions

Richard Mille FAQ

Can you buy Richard Mille in Australia?

Richard Mille has officially opened its first retail location in Australia, marking a significant expansion of the brand's presence in the region. Australian buyers purchase either from an this boutique or from the secondary market through independent dealers such as Calibre24, which is based in Perth and ships nationwide.

How much does a Richard Mille cost in Australia?

Entry-level references such as the RM 010 and RM 07-01 generally start in the mid six figures in Australian dollars, while tourbillons and limited editions run well into seven. Secondary-market pricing moves with demand, material and set completeness, so we quote per watch rather than publishing a fixed list.

Why are Richard Mille watches so expensive?

Three reasons compound: aerospace materials like Carbon TPT and grade 5 titanium that are slow and costly to machine, movements engineered and hollowed for shock resistance rather than assembled from stock ébauches, and annual production in the low thousands against far larger demand.

Do Richard Mille watches hold their value?

Historically the sought-after references have traded above retail, particularly athlete editions and discontinued models. That is a market condition, not a guarantee — values move, and anyone telling you a watch is a certain investment is selling, not advising.

How do I know a Richard Mille is genuine?

Serial numbers on the case back should match the accompanying certificate, spline screws should be correctly aligned and unmarked, and the movement finishing and skeleton geometry should match the reference exactly. Every watch we sell is inspected in-house before listing, and we welcome independent verification.

Will you source a specific reference?

Yes. Tell us the reference, case material and the condition you want, and we will work our dealer network to find it. Sourcing typically takes a few weeks depending on how rare the piece is.
