Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M

A Sport-Dress Icon at a Compelling Price

The Aqua Terra 150M sits at the heart of Omega’s Seamaster family — a collection that earned global recognition as the watch of choice for naval officers, offshore sailors, and James Bond alike. Where the Planet Ocean leans technical and the Diver 300M leans rugged, the Aqua Terra is Omega’s blueprint for a watch equally at home in a boardroom and on a weekend sail. The 41mm case size hits the sweet spot for modern wrists, and the two-tone configuration in steel and Sedna gold adds a dress dimension without tipping into full precious-metal territory.

This 2025 full-set example — offered at AUD $7,995 against a retail price of AUD $17,925 — represents a saving of over $9,900 on a current-production Co-Axial Master Chronometer. That combination of heritage design, advanced movement technology, and below-retail pricing is hard to replicate.

Sedna Gold: Omega’s Proprietary Alloy

Sedna gold is a registered Omega trademark for their proprietary 18k rose gold alloy, formulated with a higher copper content and the addition of palladium. The result is a warmer, richer rose tone than standard 18k rose gold, and one that retains its colour far longer. On this reference, the smooth polished Sedna gold bezel contrasts cleanly against the brushed stainless steel case flanks, giving the watch a two-tone character that reads as refined rather than flashy.

The Silver Teak Dial

The horizontal “teak” pattern has been a signature of the Aqua Terra line since its 2002 introduction — a deliberate visual reference to the teak plank decking found on classic sailing yachts. On this silver-dial reference, fine horizontal lines run the full width of the dial, catching the light at different angles and giving the surface depth and movement without detracting from legibility. Applied indices and Sedna gold-toned hands are filled with white Super-LumiNova for low-light readability. The date aperture sits at 6 o’clock, where it integrates cleanly into the layout without interrupting the dial symmetry.

Calibre 8900: Co-Axial Master Chronometer

The movement inside the Aqua Terra 150M is Omega’s Calibre 8900, an in-house self-winding movement representing the pinnacle of Omega’s precision and anti-magnetic engineering.

Co-Axial escapement: Omega’s patented co-axial escapement reduces friction at the escapement wheel interface — the primary source of wear and rate deviation in a conventional Swiss lever escapement — dramatically reducing the need for servicing and maintaining long-term rate stability.

METAS Master Chronometer certification: Unlike standard COSC chronometer certification (which tests a movement in isolation over 16 days), the METAS Master Chronometer protocol tests the complete, cased watch — against a tighter daily rate standard, against magnetic fields, and against positional variance. The result: ±0/+5 seconds per day in normal wear, guaranteed.

15,000 gauss magnetic resistance: A silicon balance spring and the use of non-ferromagnetic alloys throughout the movement make the Calibre 8900 resistant to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss — far beyond the 60-gauss threshold that would disrupt a conventional COSC movement, and well in excess of the 1,000 gauss required for the previous “anti-magnetic” standard. In daily life, this renders the watch immune to the magnetic fields produced by smartphones, tablet covers, handbag clasps, and airport security equipment.

60-hour power reserve: Two mainspring barrels provide a 60-hour power reserve — enough for a long weekend without winding.

FAQs

What is the reference number for the Omega Aqua Terra 41 in steel and Sedna gold? The reference is 220.22.41.21.02.001. In Omega’s coding system, the “22” in the second position denotes the steel-and-Sedna-gold case combination, and the “02” in the fifth position denotes the silver dial variant. This is the current-generation Aqua Terra 150M 41, introduced at Baselworld 2017.

What is Omega Sedna gold and how is it different from regular rose gold? Sedna gold is Omega’s proprietary 18k gold alloy, registered as a trademark. It is formulated with a higher copper content and the addition of palladium, which produces a warmer, richer rose tone than standard 18k red or rose gold and one that resists fading over time. The name is a reference to Sedna, the distant trans-Neptunian object with a striking reddish surface. On this watch, the Sedna gold appears on the smooth polished bezel, contrasting the brushed stainless steel case flanks.

What movement does the Omega Aqua Terra 150M 41 use? It uses Omega Calibre 8900 — an in-house self-winding Co-Axial Master Chronometer. The Co-Axial escapement minimises friction and reduces servicing requirements. The movement is METAS-certified to a daily rate of ±0/+5 seconds, resistant to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss, and delivers a 60-hour power reserve. This is a more advanced standard than standard COSC chronometer certification.

What is the water resistance of the Aqua Terra 150M? The Aqua Terra 150M is rated to 150 metres / 15 bar. It is suitable for recreational swimming, snorkelling, and surface water sports. The screw-in crown contributes to the water resistance rating. It is not rated for scuba diving.

Does this Omega Aqua Terra come with box and papers? Yes. This is a full-set example and includes the original Omega presentation box and accompanying documentation. Full-set provenance is important for resale value and warranty continuity.

Is 15,000 gauss magnetic resistance useful in everyday life? Yes. Everyday objects — smartphone covers, handbag clasps, tablet cases, airport scanner belts — generate magnetic fields that can affect the rate of a conventional mechanical movement. The Calibre 8900’s 15,000 gauss resistance means the watch is immune to all of these fields in normal use. The previous industry “anti-magnetic” standard was 1,000 gauss; 15,000 gauss is 15 times that figure.
