Rolex Sky-Dweller Black Dial 336934— the most complicated Rolex you can buy
Rolex does not make complex watches for complexity’s sake. Rolex Sky-Dweller 336934, a watch that combines two independent complications into a case that still reads as a Rolex on the wrist. It was introduced in 2012 as the brand’s most technically ambitious publicly available reference, and with the arrival of the Calibre 9002 in 2023, it became more accurate and more efficient than its predecessor.
The Sky-Dweller carries two complications that no other Rolex reference offers simultaneously: a dual time zone display and an annual calendar. The annual calendar — Rolex’s patented Saros system — automatically accounts for months of 30 and 31 days, requiring correction only once a year at the end of February. The second time zone is displayed via an off-centre 24-hour disc inside the main dial, allowing the wearer to track home time continuously while reading local time on the central hands.
The 336934 is the latest iteration, released in 2023 as a refinement of the previous 326934, introducing the Calibre 9002 with its Chronergy escapement and improved movement finishing while maintaining the collection’s signature Ring Command bezel system.
This 2025 example in black dial White Rolesor is brand new, with some factory stickers intact.
The 336934 is built in White Rolesor — Rolex’s term for the combination of Oystersteel (904L) for the case body and 18k white gold for the bezel. The 18k white gold fluted bezel is not purely decorative: it is the functional interface through which the Sky-Dweller’s complications are set. Rolex’s innovative Ring Command system allows the bidirectional rotating bezel to interact with the movement when the crown is pulled, enabling the wearer to switch between setting local time, home time, and the date without requiring additional pushers or correctors. On a watch with this many functions, simplifying the setting interface to a single crown and bezel is a meaningful engineering achievement.
The bezel’s white gold fluting catches light differently from every angle, and against the black dial, the contrast is clean and precise — dark face, bright frame, no ambiguity.
The black dial is one of the newer additions to the 336934 colour palette, joining the existing blue, white, and mint green options. It is a sunray-finished black with applied 18k white gold hour markers and Chromalight luminescent fill — legible in any condition, and the most versatile of the Sky-Dweller’s dial options for varied wearing contexts.
The “Saros annual calendar” is displayed through 12 small apertures arranged around the inner perimeter of the dial, each corresponding to a month. The current month is highlighted, and the date appears in the standard aperture at 3 o’clock under a Cyclops magnifying lens. An off-centre 24-hour disc within the dial displays the second time zone — the home reference — against the main dial, allowing both time zones to be read simultaneously without a subdial.
Brand new, factory stickers intact. The watch has never been on a wrist & is in production-fresh condition. Full set complete and intact.
The Calibre 9002 is an update of the 9001 launched with the original Sky-Dweller in 2012. The key change is the introduction of the Chronergy escapement — Rolex’s own geometry derived from the Swiss lever escapement, combining a nickel-phosphorus pallet fork and escape wheel with optimised tooth profiles for improved energy transfer and efficiency. Combined with the blue Parachrom hairspring, it delivers the 72-hour power reserve and the ±2 seconds per day Superlative Chronometer accuracy.
The Ring Command setting mechanism remains unchanged: pulling the crown to position 1 activates the bezel’s interaction with the movement, allowing the wearer to cycle through the setting modes — local time, home time, date — by rotating the bezel, then confirm each with the crown. No tools, no case-back access, no pushers.

What is the Rolex Sky-Dweller 336934? The Sky-Dweller 336934 is Rolex’s current-generation annual calendar and dual time zone watch — the most complicated reference in Rolex’s publicly available catalogue. Introduced in 2023 as an update to the 326934, it uses the Calibre 9002 with Chronergy escapement, housed in a 42mm case with an 18k white gold Ring Command fluted bezel. The 336934-0008 is the black dial configuration on a Jubilee bracelet.
What complications does the Rolex Sky-Dweller have? The Sky-Dweller has two complications: a Saros annual calendar and a dual time zone. The Saros annual calendar uses 12 apertures around the inner dial perimeter to display the current month and automatically accounts for months of 30 and 31 days — requiring correction only once a year, at the end of February. The dual time zone displays a second time zone via an off-centre 24-hour disc inside the main dial, allowing local and home time to be read simultaneously. The date appears at 3 o’clock under a Cyclops lens.
What is the Ring Command bezel on the Rolex Sky-Dweller? Ring Command is Rolex’s patented system that links the bidirectional rotating bezel to the crown for complication setting. When the crown is pulled to the first position, rotating the bezel cycles through three setting modes — local time, home time, and the Saros annual calendar — allowing all complications to be set using a single crown without additional pushers or correctors. The fluted white gold bezel is both the watch’s primary decorative element and its functional setting interface.
What is the difference between the Rolex Sky-Dweller 326934 and 336934? The 336934 replaced the 326934 in 2023. The case dimensions, dial layout, Ring Command bezel, and overall design are unchanged. The primary upgrade is the movement: the 336934 uses the new Calibre 9002, which introduces the Chronergy escapement (a Rolex-developed geometry with improved efficiency over the conventional lever escapement), updating the Calibre 9001 of the previous generation. The 336934 also introduced new dial colours, including black and mint green, and received refined case finishing. Accuracy is certified at ±2 seconds per day as a Superlative Chronometer.
What is the Saros annual calendar in the Rolex Sky-Dweller? The Saros is Rolex’s patented annual calendar mechanism. It distinguishes automatically between months of 30 and 31 days, advancing the date display at the correct rate throughout the year without manual correction. The only exception is February: the Saros does not account for the 28/29-day month, so the date requires a single manual correction at the end of February each year. The month itself is displayed through 12 apertures arranged around the inside edge of the dial, with the current month illuminated.
Is the Rolex Sky-Dweller the most complicated Rolex watch? Among Rolex references currently available for public sale, yes — the Sky-Dweller is the most complicated, combining an annual calendar and dual time zone in a single watch with a functional bezel interface. Rolex does produce more complex watches (such as the Cellini, and historically the King Midas and other bespoke pieces), but the Sky-Dweller is the most technically ambitious watch in the standard Rolex catalogue.
Does this Rolex Sky-Dweller come with box and papers? Yes — complete full set with original inner and outer boxes, Rolex green warranty card, manuals, and booklets. Factory stickers intact.
Can I sell or trade in my Rolex? Yes. Calibre24 buys and takes consignment on Rolex and other high-end references. Contact us for a current valuation.
