Rolex Yacht-Master 40 Black Dial 126621
The Rolex Yacht-Master has occupied a unique position in the Rolex catalogue since its 1992 debut — designed as a professional diver’s companion but refined in material and finish to cross into dress-watch territory. The 40mm 126621 in Everose Rolesor is the expression of that dual identity that wears it most naturally: steel for durability and practicality, Everose gold for warmth and distinction, and the two combined in a way that reads as effortlessly elegant rather than obviously flashy.
Everose is Rolex’s proprietary 18k rose gold alloy, developed in-house and registered as a trademark. Its formulation includes a small percentage of platinum to stabilise the colour and slow the natural fading that affects standard rose gold over time. On the 126621, Everose gold appears on the bezel and on the centre links of the Oyster bracelet — the configuration Rolex calls Everose Rolesor.
This 2024 full-set example, offered at AUD $22,995 against a boutique retail of AUD $33,100, is a saving of $10,105 on a current-catalogue, first-owner Calibre 3235 Yacht-Master with factory stickers.
The factory stickers on the clasp of this example are a meaningful detail, not a cosmetic footnote. When a Rolex leaves the factory, clear protective stickers are applied to the case and bracelet surfaces to protect the finishing during transit. Most new owners remove them before or shortly after purchase. When stickers remain on a watch — particularly on the clasp, which sees the most wear during first use — it is a strong indicator that the watch has been handled extremely minimally since it left the authorised dealer. This example has all the characteristics of a watch purchased and carefully worn: 2024 production date, mint condition case and bracelet, and factory stickers intact on the clasp.
The dial on the 126621-0002 is described by Rolex as “intense black” — a deep, rich lacquer finish that reads as consistently dark rather than shifting with light. Applied luminous markers at each hour position and Rolex’s Chromalight display — a proprietary blue luminescent material that glows for longer than standard Super-LumiNova — ensure legibility in low light. The dial carries the Yacht-Master’s nautical script (“YACHT-MASTER” printed across the lower register) and the date window at 3 o’clock under the Cyclops magnifier. Mercedes hour hand and baton seconds hand complete the clean layout.
The movement inside this Yacht-Master is Rolex Calibre 3235 — the in-house self-winding movement that Rolex introduced in 2015 and progressively rolled across the sports catalogue. It replaced the long-running Calibre 3135 and brought substantive improvements in power reserve, accuracy and mainspring efficiency.
Superlative Chronometer: The 3235 is certified by Rolex as a Superlative Chronometer — a designation that requires the cased movement to perform within ±2 seconds per day, which is twice as exacting as the standard COSC chronometer requirement of ±4 seconds.
Chronergy escapement: The 3235 uses Rolex’s patented Chronergy escapement — a redesigned lever-and-escape-wheel geometry that reduces friction at the escapement interface by approximately 15% compared to the conventional Swiss lever escapement, improving energy efficiency and rate consistency.
Parachrom hairspring: The balance wheel runs on a Parachrom hairspring — a proprietary paramagnetic alloy that is approximately 10 times more resistant to magnetic disturbance than a conventional steel hairspring, and more resistant to shocks and temperature variation.
Paraflex shock absorbers: Rolex’s proprietary Paraflex geometry provides approximately 50% better shock resistance than a conventional Incabloc system.
70-hour power reserve: The 3235’s twin-barrel configuration delivers approximately 70 hours of power reserve from a full wind — enough for a long weekend and then some.
The bezel on the 126621 is machined from solid 18k Everose gold — not a plated surround, not a ceramic insert, but a full solid-gold bidirectional rotating bezel graduated for 60 minutes. The scale features polished, raised numerals and markers against a sand-blasted matte Everose gold background — a combination that gives the bezel tactile depth and visual contrast. The bidirectional rotation and 60-minute scale serve a practical timing function distinct from the 24-hour scale on the GMT-Master; on the Yacht-Master, the bezel is used to time elapsed periods in racing or sailing contexts. A coin-edge profile on the outer edge provides purchase for gloved hands.
The Oyster bracelet on the 126621 is constructed from three-piece solid links across five rows. The outer links are in brushed Oystersteel; the centre links are in polished 18k Everose gold — a combination that achieves the Rolesor two-tone effect across the bracelet as well as the case. The bracelet closes with the Oysterlock folding safety clasp and includes the Easylink 5mm comfort extension, allowing up to 5mm of bracelet length adjustment without tools — useful for temperature changes and the practical realities of daily wear.
What is the Rolex Yacht-Master 126621? The 126621 is the 40mm Rolex Yacht-Master in Everose Rolesor — a combination of Oystersteel case and 18k Everose gold bezel and centre bracelet links. It uses Rolex’s Calibre 3235 automatic movement with a 70-hour power reserve and Superlative Chronometer certification. The reference was updated in 2019 to the current 126621 from the predecessor 116621. It is available in chocolate dial (-0001) and intense black dial (-0002) variants.
What is Everose gold and how does it differ from standard rose gold? Everose is Rolex’s proprietary 18k rose gold alloy, developed and produced in-house at Rolex’s own foundry. It contains a small percentage of platinum in addition to the standard copper component of rose gold. The platinum content stabilises the alloy colour over time, slowing the natural fading that affects standard 18k red or rose gold. On the 126621, Everose gold is used for the bezel and the centre links of the Oyster bracelet — this two-tone configuration is called Everose Rolesor.
What does it mean that the factory stickers are still on the clasp? When a Rolex watch is assembled and prepared for delivery, protective factory stickers are applied to case and bracelet surfaces to protect the finishing during transit and initial handling at the authorised dealer. Most buyers remove these stickers shortly after purchase or during their first wear. A watch with factory stickers intact on the clasp is a strong indicator that the watch has been worn minimally since leaving the dealer.
What movement does the Rolex Yacht-Master 126621 use? The 126621 is powered by Rolex Calibre 3235 — an in-house self-winding movement with a Chronergy escapement, Parachrom paramagnetic hairspring, Paraflex shock absorbers, and approximately 70 hours of power reserve. It is certified to Rolex’s Superlative Chronometer standard of ±2 seconds per day after casing — twice the precision required for standard COSC chronometer certification.
Does this Rolex Yacht-Master come with box and papers? Yes. This is a full-set example with original Rolex presentation box and accompanying documentation. Full-set provenance supports resale value and confirms first ownership. Rolex’s Superlative Chronometer warranty runs for five years from original sale date — confirm the purchase date from the warranty card.
What is the water resistance of the Rolex Yacht-Master 126621? The Yacht-Master 126621 is rated to 100 metres / 10 bar, secured by a screw-down Triplock crown. It is designed for swimming and recreational water activities. It is not rated for scuba diving (that rating belongs to the Submariner at 300m).
What is the difference between the Yacht-Master 126621 and 126622? The 126621 is the 40mm model in Everose Rolesor (steel case with Everose gold bezel and bracelet centre links). The 126622 is the 40mm model in Rolesium — a Oystersteel case with a platinum bezel (the Rolesium configuration), typically on a bright blue or rhodium dial. The 126622 uses the same Calibre 3235 movement but has a different bezel material and a blue/grey dial character.
