Rolex GMT Master II Batman 126710BLNR – Reference 126710BLNR (2023)

Rolex GMT-Master II “Batman” — the black and blue Oyster

The Batman name arrived in 2013 when Rolex introduced the first black and blue two-colour ceramic bezel on a GMT-Master II, the reference 116710BLNR. The combination of black and blue — representing night and day, with blue for daylight hours and black for night on the 24-hour bezel — earned the nickname almost immediately, and it stuck. That reference ran until 2019, when Rolex replaced it with the updated 126710BLNR.

The 126710BLNR brought three meaningful upgrades: the new-generation Calibre 3285 movement with 70 hours of power reserve (up from 48), a redesigned case with slimmer and more refined lugs, and the option of both Jubilee and Oyster bracelets. The Oyster bracelet version of the 126710BLNR is the direct continuation of the original Batman’s sporting, tool-watch aesthetic — the same black and blue bezel, the same robust three-link bracelet, the same intent. This is the reference that collectors who want the Batman in its original spirit buy.

This 2023 example is brand new and unworn, with some factory stickers still in place. It is NOS — new old stock — meaning it has never been on a wrist.

New old stock — what that means

NOS at this level is a specific and meaningful condition designation. This watch left Rolex’s production in 2023, entered stock without being worn, and has remained that way since. Some factory stickers are intact on the case. The bracelet is unsized. The dial, bezel, and case are in production-fresh condition. This is not “excellent” or “mint.” It is NEW.

For a buyer who wants the “Brand New” experience — removing the stickers themselves, sizing the bracelet to their wrist for the first time, wearing it unworn — this is the only way to get that without an authorised dealer waitlist.

Condition

Brand new, unworn. Some factory stickers intact on the case. The watch is in the condition it left Rolex’s manufacture. The bracelet has not been sized. This is not a graded condition — it is Brand New.

The Calibre 3285 and the GMT function

The Calibre 3285 is the current Rolex GMT movement, introduced with the 126710BLNR generation in 2019. It delivers 70 hours of power reserve from a single barrel — a meaningful upgrade from the 48 hours of the previous 3186. The Chronergy escapement improves energy efficiency and reliability. The blue Parachrom hairspring resists magnetic fields and temperature variation. Accuracy is certified to ±2 seconds per day under Rolex’s own Superlative Chronometer standard.

The GMT function is operated by the blue 24-hour hand and the bidirectional bezel. Local time is set with the standard hour hand; reference time (home or second city) is tracked via the 24-hour hand against the bezel’s day/night scale. The 24-hour hand adjusts independently in one-hour increments by pulling the crown to the first position — the running seconds are not interrupted.

What is the Rolex GMT-Master II Batman? The Rolex Batman is the collector nickname for the GMT-Master II reference 126710BLNR on the Oyster bracelet, distinguished by its black and blue two-colour Cerachrom ceramic bezel. The name originated with the previous-generation 116710BLNR in 2013 — the first Rolex GMT with a black and blue ceramic bezel — and carried over to the updated 126710BLNR launched in 2019 with the Calibre 3285 movement, a redesigned case, and slimmer lugs. The Oyster bracelet version maintains the original Batman’s sporting, tool-watch aesthetic.

What is the difference between the Rolex Batman and the Rolex Batgirl? Both names refer to the black and blue GMT-Master II reference 126710BLNR, but they distinguish the bracelet. The Batman is the Oyster bracelet version — a three-link brushed and polished steel bracelet — which continues the aesthetic of the original 2013 Batman. The Batgirl is the Jubilee bracelet version — a five-link bracelet that reads as more refined and dressier. Both share the same 40mm case, black and blue Cerachrom bezel, Calibre 3285 movement, and full specification. The Batman on Oyster is considered the more traditional, tool-watch expression. This listing is the Batman — the Oyster bracelet version.

What is the difference between the Rolex Batman 116710BLNR and 126710BLNR? The 116710BLNR (2013–2019) was the original Batman — the first GMT-Master II with a black and blue ceramic bezel, on an Oyster bracelet with the Calibre 3186 movement and a 48-hour power reserve. The 126710BLNR (2019–present) is the updated generation with the Calibre 3285 movement (70-hour power reserve, Chronergy escapement), a redesigned case with slimmer lugs, and the option of Oyster or Jubilee bracelet. The case diameter remains 40mm. The 126710BLNR on Oyster is the direct successor to the original Batman.

What does “NOS” mean for a Rolex watch? NOS stands for New Old Stock — a watch produced and completed at the manufacture, then purchased or held without ever being worn. A 2023 NOS Rolex with factory stickers still intact has never been on a wrist. The bracelet is unsized. Every surface is in production-fresh condition. NOS is a distinct and higher category than “unworn” or “mint” — the stickers are the first thing removed and one of the hardest details to replicate, making their presence the clearest proof of a truly unworn watch.

What is the Calibre 3285 in the Rolex GMT-Master II Batman? The Calibre 3285 is Rolex’s current in-house GMT movement. It runs at 28,800 vph with approximately 70 hours of power reserve — up from 48 hours in the previous 3186. It uses the Chronergy escapement for improved energy efficiency, a blue Parachrom hairspring for magnetic and shock resistance, and is certified as a Rolex Superlative Chronometer to ±2 seconds per day. The independent 24-hour GMT hand adjusts in one-hour increments at the crown without stopping the seconds.

What is Cerachrom and how does it work on the GMT-Master II bezel? Cerachrom is Rolex’s proprietary high-tech ceramic compound. On the Batman, the bezel insert is a single piece of Cerachrom moulded in two colours — black for the night hours, blue for the day — with recessed numerals and graduations filled with platinum via PVD. The ceramic is virtually scratch-proof and highly resistant to UV fading, meaning the black and blue colours remain stable under prolonged sun and salt exposure. The bezel rotates bidirectionally and is graduated for 24 hours, allowing the wearer to read a second time zone against the independent GMT hand.

With the Rolex Pepsi discontinued, what does that mean for the Batman? Rolex discontinued the steel Pepsi GMT-Master II at Watches & Wonders 2026. This has reinforced demand for the Batman and Batgirl, as buyers who want a blue-accented steel GMT from Rolex now have only one reference to choose from.

Can I sell or trade in my Rolex? Yes. Calibre24 buys and takes consignment on Rolex and other high-end references. Contact us for a current valuation.
